Review | Bésame Cosmetics Cake Mascara & Eyeliner

A little something different today on the blog! We're all more than familiar with the treasures of Boots & Space NK, so when I first heard about the brand Besame Cosemetics; I was so excited to try it! For those who lust after the glamour and beauty of a time gone by, this brand allows you to indulge your inner starlet, with vintage inspired make-up products. I mean can we just take a second to coo over the stunning packaging! Beautiful on any dressing table let's be honest.

Now the concept of the Cake Mascara & Eyeliner* is as the name suggests, a dual use product. The black cream is activated with just a small amount of water (with some trial and error I found a little really is best, you want to try and create a thick paste) and then you just rotate either the mascara wand or dab in the eyeliner brush to pick up your product.

For someone who despite trying for years to master eyeliner, I'm still prone to getting it on my upper lid or just totally wonky on one side! I have found that over the last few months I've been lazy and moved away from traditional liquid eyeliner and onto the felt tip pen styles. So when I went to try this I was waiting for the tantrums. In actual fact this eyeliner was so easy to apply. The brush is short and bristles firm enough that you really do have so much control. The eyeliner itself went on slightly lighter at first, which was great to draw a guide line. After a second coat it was opaque and lasted all day without transfer! For an oily-eyelid girl, such as myself, this is a holy grail quality!

However for me the mascara was the star of the show. I'm lucky enough that my lashes are naturally long (despite the occasional accident during DIY fringe trims!) so when I look for mascaras I tend to want thickening over lengthening. However it is so hard to get this without lashes clumping into spiders legs for me. You can see below (mascara on left side and without on right side) just how naturally thick they look. To me they're better than false lashes!

Overall I would say that if you have a little more time than normal, then this product will make you feel so glamorous and gives you such control over your look. From full lashes to the perfect 50s cat flick, it can achieve it all.

Would you fancy trying a vintage inspired product like this?

It is available on the Besame Website and from a number of stockists listed here.

Let me know your thoughts and what look you would create with this - I'd love to know!
